Tasmanian Adventure
Tasmania is a land of abundant diversity in its weather, beautiful coastline, snow capped mountains, spectacular rivers and ancient forests. Tasmania is one of the few authentically wild frontiers with vast amounts of pristine wilderness that is World Heritage protected.
This unique tour takes in the two most famous wilderness icons of Tassie – The world renowned Overland Track and the wild rapids and breathtaking scenery of the Franklin River.
The Overland Track winds its way through Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park; crossing exposed alpine plateaus, passing through dense forests and alongside tranquil lakes and tarns. The track passes many of the highest peaks in Tasmania formed by glaciers during the ice age. Our trek itinerary takes 6 days, providing plenty of time for taking side trips to see gigantic waterfalls and climb snow capped summits.
The Franklin River was saved from being dammed for a hydroelectric scheme in the early 80’s and is forever protected by World Heritage listing making it one of the world’s great untouched wilderness areas and a river that has some spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rapids. For those who just want to do the rafting option there is a 10 day itinerary including the upper Franklin. Our trek & raft Combo Package includes 6 days on the upper Franklin River. There is also a 5-7 day rafting option.
You can book to do the trek or the rafting independently. We recommend doing both for the ultimate wilderness experience.
We limit our group size to a maximum of 8 to minimise impact on the environment and to optimise the quality of your experience and safety. Our tour leaders are trained in wilderness first aid and our river guides are some of the best and most experienced on the Franklin River.
